ロサンゼルス市警のベテラン刑事、トム・ラドロー（キアヌ・リーブス）は、妻を亡くして以来アルコールに依存しながら、任務では手段を選ばず暴走する日々を送っていた。ある時、以前のパートナーが殺される現場を目撃してしまう。行き過ぎた行為で警察内部からも目を付けられていたトムに殺人容疑がかけられてしまうのだが…。
「Ｌ.Ａ.コンフィデンシャル」の原作者ジェームズ・エルロイがO・J・シンプソン事件をきかっけに書いた脚本を、キアヌ・リーヴス主演、フォレスト・ウィッテカー共演で映画化。監督は「トレーニング・デイ」の脚本家、デヴィッド・エアー。キアヌ・リーヴスがハード・ボイルドな刑事役に挑んだ、骨太なドラマと意外なラストが見どころ。
