「攻殻機動隊」の士郎正宗氏の同名コミックを原作とした3DCG映画「アップルシード」の続編。監督は前作に続き荒牧伸志。
非核大戦により人類の半数が死滅した西暦2135年。負傷した多くの人々は、体の一部を機械化したサイボーグとして再生していた。平和都市オリュンポスの特殊部隊「ES.W.A.T」に所属するブリアレオスは全身機械化していたが、ある日、作戦行動中に瀕死の重傷を負い、昏睡状態が続いてしまう。ブリアレオスの恋人でありパートナーのデュナンの前に現れたのは、機械化する前のブリアレオスにそっくりな"バイオロイド"のテレウスだった。
前作で使われたモーション・キャプチャーやフェイシャル・キャプチャー、トゥーン・シェーダーなどの技術がさらにブラッシュアップされた映像が最大のみどころ。
本エディションはディスクの片面はHD DVD (R-ALL)、もう一方の面はスタンダードDVD (R-1)での収録。Blu-ray、スタンダードDVD通常盤。2枚組コレクターズ盤も発売中。 |
