「17歳のカルテ」「ウォーク・ザ・ライン／君につづく道」のジェームズ・マンゴールド監督が50年代の名作ウエスタン「決断の3時10分」をリメイク。
南北戦争で片足を失った青年ダン・エバンス (クリスチャン・ベール) は、大金と引き換えに極悪な強盗団の首領ボブ・ウィード (ラッセル・クロウ) の護送を引き受けることにする。3時10分発ユマ行きの列車にウィードを乗せるため、2日がかりの護送が始まった。ダンはウィードの奪還を狙うギャング団から身を守りつつ、自分を逃がすよう巧みに説得しようとするウィードを必死に振り切ろうとするのだが…。
魅力的なワルと貧しい父親という対象的な男の心理的駆け引きの面白さ、実力派俳優による男達の友情描写が見どころ。
