アン・ハサウェイとジェームズ・フランコの有望な若手俳優コンピによる司会で行われた第83回アカデミー賞授賞式。
12部門でノミネートされていた「英国王のスピーチ」は、作品賞をはじめコリン・ファースが主演男優賞、トム・フーパーが監督賞とオリジナル脚本賞を獲得し、最高の賞賛を得る結果となりました。
主演女優賞は大方の予想通り「ブラック・スワン」のナタリー・ポートマンが獲得。
助演男優賞のクリスチャン・ベールと助演女優賞のメリッサ・レオの二人は、「ザ・ファイター」からのダブル受賞に輝きました。

技術部門で「インセプション」、美術部門で「アリス・イン・ワンダーランド」が大健闘と、それぞれの分野で秀でた作品も評価されています。
サプライズが少なかった今回の受賞結果ですが、誰もが認める高い評価を得た作品が確実に賞を獲得していったという印象でした。
